The Elmira-Horseheads-Corning area is a picturesque river valley bordered by rolling hills and streams. The communities here enjoy combining the benefits of small town living with the better aspects of big city life. As the ‘Gateway to the Finger Lakes’ of New York State, it is an attractive destination area for tourists and vacationers with three of the finger lake jewels; Keuka Lake, Seneca Lake and Cayuga Lake within a 45 minute drive. The hillsides surrounding the lakes are ideal for growing grapes, and dozens of wineries are found here. The making of wine is an important local industry and a number of festivals, including Wine on Ice and the Finger Lakes Wine Festival welcome wine enthusiasts.
